Getting back on the printing horse..

So I haven't done any new artwork since December 2010... i feel immensely guilty about this fact. I found printing with a bump too much for my back and gave up and though i'd be back printing a few months after Silas was born. How naive was I?! I had even had the most exciting offer of a solo exhibition with Nina Sagt Gallery in Dusseldorf, but the exhibition was meant to take place when I was heavily pregnant and so was put on hold. I think it might be too long a hold now, and I regret not being more pro-active and getting back on the printing horse sooner.

My website has been down for the last week, and I've finally got it back up and running. Looking through all my old work has reminded me that I do love printing, and I think I'm alright at it too! So as of August I'm going to try and get back to printing at Spike Print Studio and get back into making work. I'm thinking more pattern based work like one of my last prints I did for Snap Studio (which is sadly no longer open)... what do you think?

Sharon Van Etten @ Rise Bristol

On Tuesday I rushed up to Rise Bristol to catch Sharon Van Etten's acoustic in-store show. It was brilliant and i'm so glad I got to catch it. I was meant to be going to her gig that night with my boyfriends band Empty Pools supporting too, but Silas has been struggling getting back into UK bedtime and I thought it would be too mean to leave him with a babysitter!! Check her out: Sharon Van Etten- Serpents

Holidays!

So once again i've been slacking with the blog! We've just got back from an amazing two weeks in Canada. We have always loved traveling and thought having a baby wouldn't stop us. We decided to test the water with a trip to a familiar place- Canada. We've been to Canada quite a lot over the years on our travels, so it was an easy choice for us. Plus we have friends and family to stay with too (bonus!) so we could do the trip on a tight budget.

Silas was a trooper and dealt with the long flight so well. This was our first morning in Toronto, having the first of many pancakes and maple syrup! Yum!

The view from our hotel room!!!

Hanging out on one of the islands off of Toronto, trying to escape the heat (so british!).

Meeting Keats for the first time.

Our friends Linda, Allen & Keats. They put us up on previous travels!

My good friend Matt who I met at uni, he's from Berlin but recently moved to Montreal for his girlfriend Luise's work. They came down to Toronto to meet Silas for the first time. It was lovely to hang out with them all weekend.

We spent the majority of our holiday at my Aunt & Uncles cottage on Lake Huron in a place called Kincardine, about 3 hrs drive from Toronto. We were spoilt- yummy dinners were cooked for us, access to an always full beer fridge, and this view! We went swimming & kayaking everyday, bliss.

Watching the sunset with my Aunt & Uncle

Silas loved the freedom, he's a real water baby and was either in the lake or in the paddling pool.. or eating his ice lollies trying to cool down!

and a few more sunsets...

Now we're back trying to get over the jet lag and trying not to miss the guaranteed sun.....

(p.s most of the photos were taken by my lovely other half, i hardly took any pics!)
